That’s the reason I love Canberra. A great place for long drives with lots of weekend getaways, with Tidbinbilla being one of them.
The place offers a scenic drive through the reserve including car access to a lookout that provides panoramic views of the Valley although we preferred parking car inside the reserve and bushwalking among the kangaroos, wombats and a variety of animals and insects occasionally meeting ducks and swans where the bushes met the ponds.
There are ranger guided walks as well and if you’re lucky like @KurutachThanard , you might get a chance to hold a platypus in your hand.
Apart from the wide variety of fauna, the exciting part of visiting Tidbinbilla lies in the great drive to the sanctuary coupled with equally scenic routes inside the sanctuary.
In most of the states in Australia, you can use overseas driving licence as long as it is in English and rent a car to drive to Tidbinbilla.
